Madonna confessed to feeling jealous of Kylie Minogue during an interview with Graham Norton, where she also hinted at headlining Glastonbury in 2024. The conversation focused on her upcoming album, Confessions II, which she described as a reflection of her roots in 1980s New York.
In the interview, Madonna stated, "Dancing is in my DNA. It just creates community – and sometimes relationships." The album features a duet with her daughter, Lola, addressing their relationship, and a track titled Fragile, mourning her brother Christopher, who passed away from cancer in 2024.
Madonna expressed excitement for fans to hear the album, emphasizing its narrative depth. She remarked, "I can’t just make dance music about nothing," while humorously noting that she often irritates others when dancing, saying, "Nobody ever wants to dance with me. I just go crazy."
Rumors about Madonna headlining Glastonbury resurfaced, as she discussed potential touring plans with Norton, suggesting that 2027 could be a significant year for her. She mentioned, "I think I’ll do promo tours for a while, then in the summertime something bigger."
Kylie Minogue made a surprise appearance during the interview, serving Madonna a cocktail. Madonna recalled wearing a tank top with Minogue's name at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which surprised Kylie. Madonna admitted, "I was actually a little bit jealous of you," referencing her ex-husband's admiration for Minogue.
Madonna also shared insights about her daughter, Lourdes "Lola" Leon, who collaborated with her on the album. Lola had previously hesitated to work with Madonna due to concerns about privilege. Madonna noted, "She’s been very stand-offish, working at her own pace, and I respect that deeply."
The first taste of Confessions II was released in April, with Madonna describing the dance floor as a "threshold" for expression. She referred to the album as a spiritual sequel to her 2005 work, Confessions on a Dancefloor.
