England Women's cricket coach Charlotte Edwards<\/a> has declared that her team has "never been more confident" as they prepare for the World Cup semi-final. The team secured their fifth consecutive victory in the T20 World Cup by defeating New Zealand, which has provided them with significant momentum heading into the knockout stage of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Edwards highlighted the impressive nature of her team's performances throughout the tournament, noting that they scored over 200 runs against both Sri Lanka and Scotland. Additionally, they achieved a commendable score of 186-7 against the West Indies on a challenging pitch at Lord's.<\/p>\n

In their latest match against New Zealand<\/a>, England chased down a target of 164 with 2.4 overs to spare, showcasing their batting prowess.<\/p>\n

"The goal was to win the group," Edwards stated. "To go through unbeaten is really pleasing. Our batting has been particularly powerful and a real positive for us." She also praised the team's bowling performance against New Zealand, indicating that they are improving with each game as they approach the critical stages of the tournament.<\/p>\n

As they await the conclusion of Group One on Sunday, England will learn their semi-final opponents, with India and South Africa currently appearing to be the most likely contenders. The semi-final match is scheduled for either Tuesday at 14:30 BST or Thursday at 18:30 BST, depending on the outcomes of the group matches.<\/p>\n

If India qualifies, they will play on Tuesday, while England will be switched to Thursday if another team finishes second in Group One.<\/p>\n

Edwards acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, "We obviously know now with the teams we are likely to play in the semi-finals, one are world champions of the ODIs [India] and one have played in every World Cup final for the last three years [South Africa], so it is not going to be easy.<\/p>\n
